MARCEL OFOMATA FOUNDATION ADVOCATES PROVISION OF CLEAN WATER TO RURAL DWELLERS

The Founder of Marcel Ofomata Foundation, Dr Amaechi Marcel Ofomata has called on government, Non Governmental organizations and public spirited individuals to support efforts at providing clean water for rural dwellers as a prerequisite for healthy living in South Eastern Nigeria and other parts of the country.

Dr Ofomata made the remarks during the opening of the 9th Edition of the Foundation’s Bi-Annual Free Medical Mission in Isuofia, Anambra State. Dr Ofomata noted that lack of access to clean water in South Eastern part of the country constitutes part of the major health predicament of the people especially rural dwellers who cannot afford the cost of getting clean water. He therefore tasks the traditional institutions and religious organizations in the area to join the Foundation in the advocacy. 

 

Dr Marcel Ofomata who is also the Chairman of AMAECOM GLOBAL LTD Group Of companies pledged the commitment of the Marcel Ofomata Foundation to advance the health and wealth needs of the rural dwellers through the Bi-Annual Free Medical Missions. 

 

During the weekend, Over One Thousand Four Hundred (1400) beneficiaries received various degrees of Free Medical Services including Medical Consultation, General Diagnosis/Treatments, Presentation of Hygiene Packs/Nosemasks, Health Education, Laboratory Tests, Eye Check/Presentation of Eye Glasses, Referral/General Health Services among others. Thirty Four (34) persons also benefited from Free Surgical Operations ranging from Appendicitis, Vaginal Hysterectomy, Hynias, Lumpectomy, Fibroids, Prostrate among other during the 9th Edition of the Free Medical Outreach in compliance with NCDC #Covid19 Guidelines as part of the Foundation’s commitment to advancing the health needs of rural dwellers.

 

Two communities in Anambra State (Isuofia, Aguata LGA  and Nanka Town, Orumba North) were adopted to decentralize the Free Medical Services on the Day ONE - 7th , Day TWO - 8th and Day THREE - 9th January 2021 respectively.

 

According to him, the ideologies of the Foundation are people and service centred especially to the rural dwellers. “Since inception, the Foundation has undertaken several intervention programmes in Academic Scholarship (up to University levels), Free revolving seed loan for Women Empowerment, Skills Acquisition Programmes for the youths, Sports Development as seen in the ongoing construction of the state-of-arts Mini Stadium in Isuofia, construction of the ongoing Entrepreneurial & Research Development Centre at University of Nigeria, Nsukka. “We have also created employment opportunities through the business concerns of the conglomerate, provided Direct Mentorship Scheme for the younger generation and cultural/attitudinal reorientation campaigns among others. 

“These initiatives justifies the Foundation’s commitment to empowering the transformation of humanity for good but more can be achieved with accelerated collaborations.

 

Meanwhile, Dr Amaechi Marcel Ofomata, Founder, Marcel Ofomata Foundation has expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the leadership of the Foundation to the Medical Professionals, numerous volunteers including Nigerian Red Cross Society for their professional services as well as the Anambra state government, the host communities of Isuofia and Nanka led by His Royal Highness, Igwe (Col.) Christopher Muoghalu, Rtd and His Royal Highness, Igwe Godwin Ezeilo respectively, the Leadership of Primary Health Care Centres in Ozalla Isuofia and Ofuobi General Hospital, Nanka, the Security among others.
